The stock pickups were unbelievably dark, practically no high end at all. On a 7 especially, you need good high end to cut through and keep things clear. This just sounded like mud.

It plays way better than it has any right to. The stock active pickups are truly awful, I swapped in a set of Duncan JB/Jazz Rails. And restringing it threatened to drive me to madness, but maybe it gets easier.
