Just generally I wish there was more enforcement around scams and fraud. Maybe it’s a drop in the bucket, but enforcing the laws that protect our most vulnerable Americans from financial ruin seems like it’s always a good idea.
"Every six months, Meta earns $3.5 billion from just the portion of scam ads that 'present higher legal risk,' the [Meta] document says, such as those falsely claiming to represent a consumer brand...That figure almost certainly exceeds 'the cost of any regulatory settlement involving scam ads.'”
Meta is earning a fortune on a deluge of fraudulent ads, documents show
Meta projected 10% of its 2024 revenue would come from ads for scams and banned goods, and it internally estimates that its platforms show users 15 billion scam ads a day, company documents show.

Can lawyers tell me if regular people are allowed to fight unidentified muggers if they do not know whether they are CBP or criminals?
“Three men in black vests entered a NY restaurant claiming to be ICE agents. Inside, they tied a worker’s hands and pulled a garbage bag over the person’s head. Another, believing the burglars’ story, surrendered themselves, only to be kicked to the ground and tied up as the intruders robbed an ATM”
FBI Warns of Criminals Posing as ICE, Urges Agents to ID Themselves
In a bulletin to law enforcement agencies, the FBI said criminal impersonators are exploiting ICE’s image and urged nationwide coordination to distinguish real operations from fakes.

Reforming the GOP is indeed the best way out of America's crisis in the long term. The scary thing is that no one has even the outlines of a credible plan for how to do that
The most important thing is not any party winning. Partisanship can distort one’s thinking. The most important thing is the survival of the American republic, which requires two parties committed to liberal democracy. Can’t solve all the other problems we have unless you solve that as well.
