Die Scheinheiligkeit der Rechtspopulisten ist atemberaubend.
Yes, Fox News Host Brian Kilmeade really said this about homeless people: “Involuntary lethal injection, or something. Just kill 'em."

I miss moderate centrists, who don’t claim to have all the answers, who don’t ascribe to either extreme ideologies or supposedly god-given rules to try and control other people, and who try to work together to settle problems aware of their own limitations. Where have they gone?

The right sets the terms of our political discourse in so many ways, one of which is the idea that there isn't enough "debate" and "free speech" on campus.

We need to push back on this. The truth is (speaking for myself as a history prof), I don't really emphasize debate much in my classes/

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

“Trump’s election, and his subsequent campaign to crush demonstrations, is precisely the scenario that liberal critics warned would occur,” Jonathan Chait writes. That this outcome is being used to discredit those same liberals is perverse yet familiar.
Why the Left Blames Liberals for Trump’s Authoritarianism
The debate, as ever, is whether the left is discredited by its own excesses or by criticism of those excesses.

Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, bungled answers on Tuesday about habeas corpus, incorrectly saying that the legal right of people to challenge their detention by the government was actually the president’s “constitutional right” to deport people.

Donald Trump has disgraced the United States of America in countless ways since he first entered political life ten years ago.

But he had never disgraced the nation as badly as he did today.

He has brought shame on this country to an extent I had never thought possible. And he has only just begun.

Here is something from a contract lawyer's perspective.

Trump is not "transactional", for he will never be bound.

Indeed, he is anti-transactional.

A transaction is an exchange, an agreement.

But for Trump the agreement is only there to be repudiated, so to gain leverage for his next demand.
