This cat had never met a dog before we moved here, had only lived with one other cat who kept her distance. Now here she is with two doggos around her, and she’s purring away like a tractor.

‘What have you done to the cups!’ She will inevitably ask in the morning, as though she hasn’t been saying for months that she can’t get them all to fit. I didn’t even get rid of any.

Doing a little DIY project on this solid timber chest that my grandfather made and grandmother kept her linens in. After sanding it back I want to stain and varnish it in a dark gloss, and line the insides with a beautiful wallpaper.

I can’t believe this look is in vogue now. When I was 12, on my first trip to Melbourne, I felt like the dorkiest dork who ever dorked. I had a fight with my parents because I wanted to wear ballet flats that day!

Poulet Vallée d’Auge with pinkeyes a real hit with the family tonight. It may not look like much but that sauce is packed with brandy-flambéd mushrooms, caramelized apples, stock, cream and thyme. We cleaned our plates.
