Durham based mam of two small humans in a neurodiverse family. NHS Librarian. Reader, walker, cross stitcher, tea drinker. Perpetually tired but I try. She/Her. Views own etc.
Oddly, the bruising from today seems to be exclusively on the palms of my hands? Never had that before. My thigh and hip, which hurt like fury, are completely unmarked.

My toddler came out of nursery today covered in what looked like flour, with his woolly hat skew whiff and his jumper and trousers absolutely covered. I said 'Look at you! Looks like you've had a good day!' and he beamed and said 'Do I look smart Mammy?!'

Had a spectacular fall on the way back from nursery. Fell forward onto my right side and have grazed my hip, thigh, side and most painfully, palms. Eldest was with me. Had promised him a Greggs breakfast this morning so I jumped up and we continued on our way but if I'd been alone I wouldn't have.

Littlest turns four next week. Cue all the feelings when pictures like this crop up on my photo memories 😭
I reckon he would have been less than ten hours old here. I was in hospital less than thirteen hours total.

Had been having cross words with littlest about telling lies, which he sometimes does if my attention is elsewhere (eg pretending to need the toilet because I'm making tea). He said 'A lie isn't true?'
Me: 'Yes.'
Him: 'I love you! That's not a lie because I love you.'
Absolute top tier manipulator 🤣

Have been followed by two odd accounts in the past day. Both look fairly wholesome (charities, grandkids, etc.) but have a random 'Ooh I stepped out of my comfort zone and modelled for/photographed someone for a charity calendar this week!' and then photos of naked women. Is this a new thing??

I've managed to upset both of my kids tonight. Youngest by pretending I was getting them mixed up (they'd chosen to wear matching PJs), and eldest by patting him on the stomach when he was on my knee and saying I was playing the bongos.
Both times they were laughing and then burst out crying. Sigh.

Wicked has been out less than a week and I already feel as if I've seen the entire film several times from the amount of spoilers/clips/images folks are posting from it.
I've seen the musical, I know what happens, but I'd quite like to have at least some of the costumes/direction be a surprise. Sigh

My 3yo had a tummy bug this weekend, and has been off nursery today. He's also spent the past two days drinking from every cup, water bottle and drinking vessel he can find, usually after I've *just* cleaned them.

Well that's a new one at work: 'I've parked in the disabled bay because I've got my sick dog in the car, is that ok? If it isn't, just tell me which car is yours and I can block you in instead.'

A movie that takes place where you're from.

My friend at work very kindly gave the boys a large wooden sword that used to belong to her brother, that they rediscovered when moving house.

They LOVE it.
They love it so much that it's been confiscated and hidden no less than five times since Friday afternoon.

Waiting to donate blood again. Quite ludicrously nervous. Again. This is one way to overcome a needle phobia, I suppose.

Got complimented on my jumper by two very sweet girls in late teens/early twenties so I'm taking it as a mark of honour. I was able to say 'Thanks! My mam knitted it for me!'

And once again we have the option of taking a bad tempered, rude, stroppy child somewhere nice when he'll snap and snipe all day, or staying at home and letting littlest miss out through no fault of his own.
(Please don't suggest leaving him with grandparents - they do enough.)

When my eldest child eventually got dressed this morning - after I don't know how many times of asking, and an explanation or where we were going - he emerged in a *checks notes* a formal shirt, a Christmas jumper and a pair of shorts.

I don't know why this bothers me as much as it does, but I shared something on Insta implying that my mental health was poor at the moment (not for the first time) and yet again it's been viewed by someone who was meant to be one of my best friends and... Crickets. She was one of my bridesmaids.

Was called out of work for an 'urgent meeting' at school today. So was my husband (a teacher).
Guess who got effusive apologies for being pulled out? & guess who didn't?
And guess who's so fed up of having her job treated like a charming little hobby she announced 'I ALSO FINISHED WORK EARLY TODAY'.

Looks like I'm walking into work this morning, then.
I bloody hate the snow.

Both boys slept in our bed last night so that was a fun night's sleep 😴 Worth it this morning though, when littlest woke up to find his big brother next to him and cuddled in contentedly, then whispered 'Hello 9yo, I love you' to his sleeping form ❤️
November 20, 2025 at 6:22 AM
Today has been nice. 9yo did his school work and after we'd been out for his brass lesson we cuddled under a blanket and watched a Christmas special of Ghosts (the one with Pat's home videos and I had a cry). Played Labyrinth. Picked littlest up from nursery and now we've all had hot chocolates ❤️

Do you want a glimpse into my life, good people of Bluesky? Do you? Do you really?!
My youngest child has been watching this - in Greek - for the past week or so whenever he is allowed tablet time.

I realise that a lot of people won't understand the enormity of this, but this morning, on our home schooling day, 9yo and I have sat and practiced for half an hour and now he can finally tie shoelaces! He asked to give it a go and we tried different techniques until one stuck. I almost cried 😭

STOP IT SNOW
November 19, 2025 at 7:48 AM
3yo just woke up crying and drunkenly staggered into our bed instead. I grabbed Matilda, his cuddly bunny, who normally accompanies bedtime and passed her over. Still half asleep, he flung her off the bed and howled 'I DON'T WANT TILDA I JUST WANT MAMMY!'
An extra source of warmth for me tonight 🥰
