I should probably have a pinned intro post, huh? Hi, I'm Gregiffer, I'm a queer Youtuber running the Pop Arena channel. I cover a lot of stuff, but my main project is Nick Knacks, a history of Nickelodeon that looks at every single show that ever aired on the channel.

So you made a robot stand up and talk... now what? In this over 4-hour journey, Kevin follows the promise of Disney's Living Character Initiative, an effort to populate Disney theme parks with free-roaming, interactive beings. It was touted as the future. How's it going? Watch here: bit.ly/49C6vng

A lot of the motivation in doing videos is to have a mobile career that I could take with me so I could escape where I was.

I have not yet escaped.

I got the idea for Nick Knacks while in an Applebee's.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

Feels like it's been a fairly weak sauce year for queer cinema, especially compared to last year. Any recs I might have missed?

Laughing at Donald Trump saying he'd definitely feel comfortable living in Zohran Mamdani's New York on the same day that half the consultant brain-poisoned Democratic party voted to condemn socialism

Congress: "We hate socialism so much we voted on it so we can be all grrrrrr socialism!"
Trump: *points to Mamdani* "This socialist fucking rocks, I love this guy!"

Weird ass day.

In a similar vain to yesterday's Yoshi question: When you think of Godzilla, do you think of them as a good guy by default or a bad guy by default? Obviously, objectively, you know they've been both, but what does your heart say about Godzilla?

Found out one of my high school friends died. We lost touch years ago, as you do after graduation, but suddenly a lot of old adventures are feeling fresh in my head. Soon these memories will be full of ghosts.

When I'm gone, someone plant a tree for me.

My parents had this on VHS and I remember a very special family viewing, followed by discussions on what we would do during similar disasters. I wasn't paying attention, because I was shook, this film gave me anxiety, and also might have saved the world.
THE DAY AFTER debuted on ABC #OTD in 1983.

The TV movie about a nuclear attack on the U.S. was so traumatizing, my English teacher Mr. Pirro cancelled his classes the next day so we could all talk about our feelings.

What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?

We all know "Hey Ya!" and "The Way You Move," but there's SO much good music here. Even the weirder lesser stuff like "Dracula's Wedding" is lots of fun.

Do you think of Yoshi as a singular character, Mario's old friend, or do you think of Yoshi as just a species of animal, of which Mario has encountered thousands of? Don't try to logic it in your head, what does your heart say?

I would be okay with Crowd Control not getting a second season. Trying to do crowd work stand up in a test tube environment when 2/3rds of the comedians are not practiced in those skills and then over-editing because of all the dead air is not a winning formula, I think.

Sometime late in the Bush administration we as a country stopped illuminating rooms with a floodlight placed directly behind a slowly rotating industrial fan and our nation has been floundering ever since.
One of the absolute dogdick shittiest things to be nostalgic for is how I miss big warehouse sets with a fuckin' huge flood light blasting on the windows
