It was the season to be more fearful of bulls than cows, but still.
Rattlesnake whilst on a horse could have started some shit, & a bear cub crossed between me & mom, but I moved very far away very quickly and calmly. I wasn't scared, but I think both of those sound "scarier" than elk (they aren't)

I was WAY closer to two elk cows than I ever want to be again. They were immediately behind us and we had no idea that they stopped and turned around and returned after charging past to just eat shrubs in the gully behind us as we photographed the bulls. Far, far too close.

Strained the broth smoothly and got the soup made and was given a stamp of approval. We work well together, he and i...he can tell me just what seasonings need to be added to something I can't eat, and I can fine-tune based on his descriptions. Now he's got soup for the week & some for neighbor!
