I had plenty of other 5 star reads this year, but those were the things that stand out to me when I look back at the year in their respective genres.

I think my favorites were The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang, Enshittification by Cory Doctorow, Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zheng by Kylie Lee Baker, Heavenly Tyrant by Xiran Jay Zhao, and The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang.

Me: silently nodding, removing the lid from my cup, pouring water from the pitcher in, putting the pitcher and lid back, then shuffling to the bathroom - all with eyes closed but for the barest sliver necessary

But I slept HARD and apparently with my mouth open. I had no water in my bedside sippy cup when I woke, and had to rectify that immediately. So I shuffled to the kitchen with eyes almost entirely closed against the daylight, holding my cup as a lich might hold their phylactery.

I normally do some stretches in bed and similar tasks within my bedroom before getting up, partially to control the vasovagal syncope and get my joints moving again but also to help my eyes get open and give me time to actually wake up
I'm also typically the first to wake in our household

I've definitely noticed a spike in scent sensitivity as well as photosensitivity during, which certainly might start beforehand... I'll have to pay attention when the next one starts
