A neighbor saw my posts on a Facebook group for the neighborhood and said it’s a geothermal system under the concrete. As of this afternoon it was doing a terrific job.

Got the attention of a neighbor who said they put in a geothermal heating system under the concrete. I still want to see magic concrete in action somewhere.

Interesting. They did redo the sidewalk. I walk by there at least once a week. I’ll see if someone knows what was put in. I love the idea of self-heating concrete! Might be more accessible for folks to do

It’s almost certainly this new form of concrete that self heats. It was invented last year and this house was built this year. The likelihood Chicago would allow wiring up the public way seems remote

It's been a few years, but I'm still always glad they cleaned the ceiling so your can see the ornamental tile work. The first decades I was around, it was a grey blotch and no one looked up. Not so sure about the other 1960s windows, but I love the fire in the north.
