@jenthorne.bsky.social I love your introduction. I should change mine. In real life I am old and missing my life’s work. On line I am an artist and a writer and a poet. I am heard.

They stole the ballots in Fulton County. They have Nicholas Maduro in custody and he’ll say whatever they want to get moved to a club fed with Maxwell. Stay with me. I don’t want to go hopeless tonight.

As part of the general strike tomorrow (Friday 1/30) calling for no shopping or work (where possible) I will be offline to avoid generating ad revenue for corporations like Meta, Google, and Amazon. See y’all on Saturday! 💜

Today, we remember and mourn the 6 million Jewish lives and millions of others murdered during the Holocaust.

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, and every day, we must commit ourselves to fighting antisemitism and bigotry in every form.

At Kent State University on May 4, 1970, members of the Ohio National Guard shot into a crowd of student protesters, killing four students, wounding nine others, sparking national outrage and a massive student strike that closed colleges nationwide. We Boomers remember. Our voices are screaming now.

I was going to say Happy 2026, but it doesn’t feel right

Instead, I’ll quote Tolkien

“Some believe it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. It is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love.”

@sonnetsmith.bsky.social so how do I post to the prompt if my poem is longer than a post allows?

The time for idle speculation is officially over.
This is NOT a tan pants, saluting wrong, being old kind of thing anymore.

Donald Trump has declared war without the approval of Congress. Without any sort of discussion, or evidence.

He needs to be impeached. End of story.

This is serious. Impeach

@daveashleypoet.bsky.social Oooooo… I like a good egg. I need to change up my introduction. It’s far too literal.

@clpolk.com You know that feeling when your real life presents itself on the page and you hope to God nobody who knows you reads it? Yeah, that happened. What’ll I do?

Christmas letters: I read two today. The first made me feel insufficient —bragging on accomplishments of the growing and grown offspring, trips taken (exotic sounding places) and house-flipping profits. The second letter described time spent with family, friends, and babies born. Made me feel great.

I’m making joy in spite of the mean spiritedness of some current policies. I made lasagna for two neighbors and an apple pie for another for their Christmas Eve dinners. I found some outstanding gifts at Goodwill. I made overnight French toast to take to our kids in the morning. 🥰🌲 ✌️

@iwashyna.bsky.social I’ve been thinking about you’re needing a quilt for your winter decor. I couldn’t have completed something by the holidays so I’m hoping you found someone who could. If not, I will find time to make something in the coming year. Have a warm holiday.

Newport, you were on Rachel Maddow tonight! You got your helicopter back!!! No detention facility in our glorious coastal city. GO Newport. Courage is working. Resist respectfully. So proud of you all. #resist #Newport

Yea, Newport! Way to holler back at the wolves. No ICE facility on our beautiful Oregon coast. No way. Send their life-saving helicopter back. Please know that we will drive over the coast range to spend money in Newport at local establishments over the holidays. Long live the patriots of Newport!

The Supreme Court allows Trump to pause full benefits for hungry Americans. Despicable! They sent it back to the 1st circuit courts. Oregon is feeding people. Pay attention, people! This is the first time in history that an administration is fighting to take food away from poor people.

Oregon found the funding to get SNAP benefits to my single mom daughter and her child. We, seniors on a fixed income, would have ensured that she and our grandson would not go hungry. But it’s better that we don’t need to do that. We have to stay healthy as long as possible to support her. Oregon!

The lesson of history is that tyrants cannot be appeased.

Appeasement only feeds their insatiable hunger for power.

Tyrants prey on people who feel unsafe and vulnerable.

But without mass submission, a tyrant is powerless.

Remember this.
