I needed to double take because my quick scan of this read it as "Chekhov's camel toe" and I was very confused. This makes way more sense.

I think this is why I can't read the same genre too many times in a row (even if its a genre I love). If I spend too much time in one place, everything flattens to base components and loose all luster.

What a world they must live in to not see that most things are just echos of something else.

I am the person shouting on the street corner that big word count is trying to control us all.

Glad it helped.

I can honestly say I have never once cared about a chapter being too short or too long. I'm just happy to spend time with my silly lil guys and whatever new adventure they are on.

This coming to you because I am currently suffering for a rich broccoli cheddar soup. (I do have a pretty decent nondairy recipe for this one but I am also... lazy) My body my choice... even if it means I need to always be five feet from a bathroom today.

If you need a break after that I totally get it... but for every kid who is loudly wrong and just mean there are scores of us here to remind you that you are loved and respected in the community.

Oh wow. I'm seeing a lot of personal taste confused for objective fact. Why do people always forget they have the ability to not read a thing. You can love a writer and still go, "this one isn't for me." Also, none of that was constructive criticism... it was just insulting you and complaining.

I fear someone forgot to install the hard reset button. (Which shouldn't be surprising because it was designed by rich white men who are notoriously over confident and short sighted).

Just absolutely seething the whole time.

As an occasional Starb enjoyer (only with transfemme Stevie) I see your point ... but I don't like it. Tommy and Barb bonding over pining over their best friends and wishing they would break up. I can see it... but I also feel like neither of them would admit to that even on pain of death.

Also, did I wind up buying a Spanish language version of this and reading a couple stories in the original language to check a hunch that there were some changes in the translation that affected the tone and flow of some these stories? I didn't want to blame the translators without verifying first.

Right? I did my undergrad thesis on Korean literature in translation a decade ago and I had to work so hard to find texts to use, a year later The Vegetarian came out and now there are so many great books being translated! It looks like it will get a US edition next year... but that's so far away.
