Me reading an ARC that doesn't come out until next spring, that is the end to a series and having the floor dropped out from under me. I am never free of the "your favorite character is going to die" curse. Apparently even in a romance series and their HEA was 8 books ago. (lies and slander)

Sometimes having the pattern recognition gene sucks ... because you get 30% of the way into a book and already know the Shape of Things™️.

It's why I get so delighted when an author surprises me*.

*As long as it makes sense for the narrative. If you surprise me with bullshit, I don't want it.

Celebrate #IndigenousHeritageMonth as we discuss fiction books by indigenous authors across Turtle Island; from #romance to #horror with authors who are Chickasaw (though the characters are Muscogee), Métis, and Inuit.

"It's long for a oneshot, but I couldn't break it up..."

"This chapter is shorter than the others. I feel bad..."

"This chapter ran away from me so I had to..."

Babes. Darlings. Lights of my life. It's YOUR story. There are no secret rules about word count. Stop body shaming your chapter length.

I love horror so much... but I've now read so many in a row that I need a detox until next year. That does mean that the second part of my "best books of last year" project is finally up!

People clown on those of us who are lactose intolerant for constantly eating dairy. All of my favorite foods put me in intestinal distress. Yes, I have dairy substitutes, but most of them either don't have enough fat to be creamy or fuck up the flavor. Do you want coconut flavored chowder? IDTS.

It feels pointless to hope... I feel like we will be outbid immediately, but maybe not. Not if the vibes are right.
Anybody that wants to put out good vibes... My partner and I are putting an offer on a house today. I need like everyone to cross their fingers and toes for us because the market here is absolutely ass and finding a house in this condition at this price point in our area is actually insane.

Do you think there are Marcus the Worm from VR Chat fics?

Asks a person with an ao3 account and the knowledge/ability to look this up.

I just want to wonder for a little while. Let my mind try and conjure up what those would even be.

SHHHH! I def. didn't accidentally schedule this for tomorrow and have to panic post it just now...

Anyway, if you can get a copy of this just to read La Huesera (the last story), it's worth it. However, we had some issues with the rest of it.

Guys this is criminally under read right now. It needs more love. Rock bottom Rock Star Eddie and Dead End Depressed Steve find the love they walked away from 5 years ago. Actually so fucking good.

When I see someone online talking about a book that sounds amazing, but it hasn't been published in the US yet, and the "government" has made it so that I can't order it! I just wanna read the weird book where a woman eats her dead partner and is also a blazing indictment of capitalism!

I have 3 hours of an audiobook left (on 3x speed while physically reading it at the same time because adhd is a bitch and accessibility tools are rad actually) that is due back at the library in 9 hours. Guess its time for a hot tea, a cozy blanket, and locking in.

Throwing this out into the ether in case anyone would want to do it.

Gretchen and I have a monthly (not quite a) book club. We meet over Zoom with bookish friends and discuss the things we've been reading for our channel. We are short 1 guest for November... would any of my moots be interested?

I was just made aware that Steddie dropped like 60 places in the ship stats for last year... and I know everyone jumped on the 911 bandwagon but Jesus christ... 60 places! Next you are going to say we are 12 people in a giant warehouse full of cardboard cutouts of the friends we used to have!

Last week was #bannedbooksweek and we celebrated by reading and discussing some banned children's books. Highly recommend this one for a giggle plus some important discussions around what you can do to help prevent book banning in your community!

As a person who loves horror. I live and breathe it. There is absolutely one thing I cannot do.

Scarecrows.

It is the only thing that makes me immediately clam up and hide. Which sounds so pathetic but close friends have seen it happen in real time. I couldn't even tell you why. It's pathological.

The ability to 2x speed videos on almost every app is a great quality of life thing. I love it, dearly.

Unfortunately... my ability to listen to people talk at normal speed without getting bored is slowly diminishing.
