Geek by nature, nerd by profession, rabid reader by choice. Will dance if there's a beat. Will sing along if I know the words. She/her/hers.
I've got a whole mix of feelings (anger, frustration, and disappointment) about my professional organization, @socdevbio.bsky.social, using this likely AI-generated image. Note the double "18" pockets.

If you see this, quote with a robot that isn't from "Star Wars", "Star Trek", "Doctor Who", or "Transformers".

My library now has several L.A. Theatre Works full cast recordings! Of course I started with the plays I did scenes from in THAR 101 in undergrad.

I recall a shockingly large amount of the "don't hang back with the brutes" monologue (given I memorized in spring 1998 and haven't performed it since).

Initiation ritual complete! I'm now in @mostlybree.kitrocha.com's focaccia cult. 😁

I don't remember exactly who posted about the Bonne Maman advent calendar being available to order last week (I do know it was more than one of y'all), but thank you! It's here and there's no way I'm waiting until December to start trying these out.

I'm crying both happy and angry tears right now. I'm happy the student had good experiences in my lab course and is glad to be in another class I'm teaching. I'm angry that having a professor treat a student like a human being is considered remarkable.

My awesome "we've been here THE WHOLE TIME" and "It's Dr, Actually" pins (made by @canopyrobin.com) have been installed in my office.

CW: Food tracking

My food tracking app has integrated an awful AI tool that I have no ability to turn off provide feedback about. Here's it's "helpful" hint for today.

Don't reply with why food tracking is bad actually. It's a system that works FOR ME to make sure I'm eating enough (& balanced).

Two sections of lab (6 contact hours) + 30 minutes of set up + 30 minutes of clean up.

I always want to send these screenshots to the MD who told me I didn't walk as much as I thought I did while teaching. She's no longer my doctor.

It's the microscopy lab during which students make wet mounts of plant leaf epidermis to view the stoma and at a least a few giggle and/or ask "You want me to draw THAT???"

Seeing STOMP with my theater-bestie from undergrad! Exciting for me, a tap dancer, and her, a percussionist.

Daughter of Tides keeps popping up around me @kitrocha.com. I saw copies at Plot Twist in Denton yesterday and now this pic from a story about Flutter Romance in Austin.

Look @mostlybree.kitrocha.com and @totallydonna.kitrocha.com! It's your book!

This is the only time I haven't been upset by accidentally clicking on a goodreads banner. Of course, I've already read it and given it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐....

Celebrating the joyful things: I got my award!

They put a quote on it from one of the student nominations: "Dr. Pickett has been one of the most passionate, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable professor's that I have ever had, and I thoroughly enjoy being in her class." 🥹🥹🥹
