There's no single clearing house for grad school applications in the US. I had a student apply to 25 different schools. So I uploaded a letter and completed various scale ratings at 25 separate portals today (accessed via links sent to me in 25 different emails).

I've got a whole mix of feelings (anger, frustration, and disappointment) about my professional organization, @socdevbio.bsky.social, using this likely AI-generated image. Note the double "18" pockets.

This is a steal! (But not the pirating kind from yesterday's discourse.)
For a limited time, you can grab my award-winning novella, TIKKA CHANCE ON ME, for just $0.99! Trucker and Pinky are a cheap date! But, sorry, you'll have to procure your own samosas.

Ms. Godfrey taught us how to do Punnett squares in 7th grade science class. A month later I was inspecting earlobes, hairlines, eye color, and tongue rolling of all extended family at Thanksgiving and informing them of their genotypes.

I know it will get appealed, but let's just take a moment to savor the fact that this ruling was written by a Trump appointed judge.

Federal court blocks new Texas congressional map for 2026
The decision is a major blow for Republicans, in Texas and nationally, who pushed through this unusual mid-decade redistricting at the behest of President Donald Trump.

Is it too much to expect a small business to provide an update if they haven't fulfilled an order in the published "average/expected fulfillment" timeframe?
Is it also too much to expect them to respond to an email inquiry about the order within 5 business days?

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.
