This should worry everyone.

“US officials contacted by Reuters were surprised by Trump's announcement and unaware of any ongoing military operations to enforce a closure of Venezuelan airspace.”

Trump’s failing faculties could walk the US into war.

With the exception of a very few things, everything can be done via GUI in Mikrotik.

There are a couple commands, like I believe turning on the container subsystem, that requires CLI because there is some risk associated with it (regular container security stuff, just on a router).

Yep!

It has all three, you can also ssh in directly instead of using winbox if setup to do so.

If you need any help looking for vendors, feel free to lmk. I have experience with a few, depending on your region.

As an example (this is a slightly older version of winbox, so that's why it looks a little different. Just can't find updated screenshots with the new skin)

Within winbox you can open a terminal, and also GUI config windows. So you can use a hybrid of both very easily, it will also remember your window arrangement within winbox.

A useful learning tactic is playing with the cli and seeing how it reflects in the GUI or vice versa.
November 29, 2025 at 6:16 AM
Ahh gotcha, so most videos will show the cli because it's more easily repeatable.

However, if you look on the left you will see buttons that correspond to the commands. So /interface is manipulating the same stuff that you'd be able to by clicking "interface" on the left and using the GUI.

Almost everything shown in the video can be accomplished through the winbox UI.

There may be container related stuff that requires using cli still, though there are so many ways this type of setup really doesn't work well that I don't encourage it.

Depends what you mean by done correctly, even in that video they state it's risky to do.

Unless you have a specific reason, doing Tor at the router is generally the wrong place.

Everything except the automatically fetching lists (as far as I can tell, I'm not familiar with banip and just read the readme) is integrated into the firewall.

For lists in specific, if the list is available in a sane format, it's easy to import into the firewall. Can be easily scripted as well.

Stark reality: AI does such a poor job that it takes workers much longer to deliver since it is actually time efficient to start from nothing than start from garbage. On top of the fact that people are often doing 2-4 peoples jobs coupled with nonexistent hiring because we all must AI, we must
