I just realized, I have a United card that gives me "exclusive access" to their lounges and yet I've never been in them.

Partly a mix of always just making my flights in time and the lounges being closed for construction, but also worry I'll miss boarding if I'm at the lounge and not the gate.

From past experience I know putting red tape road blocks in the way of cyber security tools just makes companies/ administrations more likely to just avoid using them.

People don't realize how hard it already is to get companies and municipalities to take cyber security as seriously as they should.

I've done response to ransomware attacks that took over corporate networks where the only thing that kept the attack out of the critical infrastructure side of the connected industrial network is the industrial VPN I installed.

This policy would endanger the UK's power, water, etc infrastructure.

The big difference was Amazon's profitability required growth to a significant scale and size to begin earning, while AI just fails to consistently do what is claimed it will do, and it's a functionality that can't be fixed given the constraints it faces.

Many restaurants now charge a credit card processing fee to the customer so at this point you're literally paying for the "convenience of not using cash".

So after years of not using cash, I'm back to using it when possible.

Ground Kontrol is on my short list for a place to get a quick bite late night, it does look like a fun place

hah hah, oh yes, I've always wanted to visit Portland and this time it's just happening in passing because of work, but I have a feeling I'm going to love it there so much I'll want to do a proper visit soon. :D

I noticed the food carts on the maps, are they 24/7?

I will be getting there late the night before (11 pm) and was thinking if the food pods/ carts are open late it would be a great opportunity to check them out.

I am always open to food recommendations!

I will have a rental, but I get the impression parking in some areas is quite tough so am open to a mass transit jaunt.

Oh, are the street food carts really a big deal? I keep seeing those come up on maps I check out.

I'm going to be in Portland for my first time ever in a few weeks (Old Town area).

What would you say is some must do things to do if you only have a day there and you live a relatively unathletic lifestyle? :D

It definitely works too, I automatically slow down when I'm on roads like these and I see others doing it.

Meanwhile where I lived before they lowered the speed limit to 25 on my block, put in a digital "your speed" sign, and over 10 years it had absolutely no effect on slowing people down.
