It's a deliberate strategy, but cheap prosecco fizz still fills the supermarkets here. I don't think most Italians care to be honest.

The territory of production has also extended to Friuli near to the border with Slovenia. The latter are not happy as they produce a traditional 'prosec' which is not a prosecco.
