The only thing you have to do is…nothing. Don’t use their shitty chatbots. Don’t let anyone else peer pressure you into using their shitty chatbots. It’s really simple.

I told a technical interviewer that in the last couple of years I’ve mostly been using TypeScript and Ruby. He said, and I quote: “don’t use C# because it doesn’t have data structures.” This was ostensibly a senior engineer. Why can’t I get a job? Because these are the people evaluating me.

Note to self. This week the scales shifted from me mostly seeing myself as a failed software developer to mostly being a successful career-changing postgrad student. Try to keep it that way if you can.

—I am so, so, so enraged right now, at all the ways my life has been put on hold, not by the pandemic, but by nearly complete abandonment *to* the pandemic on the part of the govt, public health systems, and most regular people.

I've realised something that seems obvious but it's taken me a while to come to terms with it. I have, quite simply, outgrown tech. I have very little respect for the majority of people in that industry. The ones who could have something to teach me will not do so. It has nothing for me anymore.

"This promise of an AI future, is really just a collective anxiety that wealthy people have about how well they're gonna be able to control us in the future."

- @tressiemcphd.bsky.social with an absolute mic drop moment about AI bullshit.

Incredible words.
Listen to all of it!

We're spending Christmas with my wife's friend's mother. That's who's showing up for us. Our family didn't invite us to Christmas last year, so this year we're uninvited as punishment for not showing up last year.

Today my kid said "I love you" for the first time. It was more like "Ayayu" but it was obvious what he was saying. We said it back and forth a few times while I cuddled him. We'd had a hard day together, and I was feeling down about not spending as much time with him as I wish. Then this happened. 💕

When people tell you they care about you, that's a signal they're about to disappear from your life forever. They may or may not pick a fight first. That's the only variation.

Everyone’s got a theory about what’s wrong with my soul

It's bad enough now that we asked our family for help with staying alive until this contract starts. My wife's dad sent her a video of him mopping a floor saying "just get a job!" and her sister screamed at me that I'm going to die in the street. This is the side of the family we still talk to.

the thing is there really is a epochal tech revolution happening, it’s called renewables and green industry
Really refuse to let the worst people have ownership of techno-optimism

My boss sits down with a clipboard and asks, "So how do you like to have sex?" He clicks his pen. "It's for diversity, you know. So you feel included. Please be professional and answer the question, all the normal people already did."

Had an interview today where nobody talked about AI.

Nature is healing.

I kiss my baby and he leans back into me for more kisses. He makes his little kissy noises back at me as he walks away to play. I love being a parent.

These guys are unpopular and dumb as rocks, they did not discover a secret 'I win' button at the heart of all politics labeled 'mean tweets' or 'cancel elections.'

Keep speaking, keep writing, keep marching, keep voting, force them to show the country what they are.

Your children are refusing to go to school because you let them contract a deadly virus which is now causing them horrible disabilities. They're right to refuse this.

My child is going to be made homeless because of fucking gamergate.
"Wait, it's all just Gamergate?"
August 8, 2025 at 4:06 PM
I just failed my sixth round of applications, all of which got right to the last stages. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm genuinely not okay. My family will be homeless soon and it's all my fault.
