You can read my barely-updated blog at phalanxhead.dev - I sometimes write tutorials for the shit I found hard to learn at work

I can be convinced if she’s cute enough :3

Yeah, the day rate for a couple of teams from Accenture (or similar) will burn through your wallet relatively fast

And the more teams you buy, the slower development tends to get

I don’t think that’s in the remote near future tbh

$800US is less than $1500AU on a bad day - assuming we don’t pay the Australia tax too

It’s pretty hard to build anything half decent for that here

We’ll see though

Plus, instant on and some HW standardisation means a lot of the downsides of media PCs kinda dissipate.

Mini ITX builds carry a price premium, but this thing is pretty compact and actually looks good out of the box.

And you don’t pay for online play

Yeah there’s trade offs. But not too many

I work full time. I want to play games on my TV. Network streaming is a bit of a nightmare in many Australian houses for example, especially if I rent, and rn couch PC peripherals are… not great.

But I have a huge steam catalogue, so I don’t really want to enter a console ecosystem.

Idk I think there’s a market for it.

The deck kinda chokes trying to play things like Stray on a 4K TV, so the extra power is nice.

I don’t really have a desire to spend 2 weeks parts hunting and planning a new build anymore - let alone for a TV

And windows is just… bad these days

It looks so GOOD ON YOU!! 😍😍

I may end up eating my words here, but I’ve found Fastmail to be pretty decent overall

But it is a product you pay for. Which turns a lot of people off.
