“I voted for none of this."

Prominent influencers, including Theo Von, Joe Rogan, and Andrew Schulz, are starting to distance themselves from the president they helped propel to the White House.

We shall see if one of the most unpopular presidents in American history who is presiding over an economy he’s trying to wreck and the poisoning of our diplomatic relations can consolidate a dictatorship. I’m pretty skeptical he has the juice, especially in his decayed state.

“Let’s find common ground” he says to a man using troops to pacify cities controlled by his opponents, carrying out mass deportations & extra-judicial killings, rigging elections, using the FBI to silence & intimidate critics, & sending masked men to snatch people off the streets. Out of his depth.
Hakeem Jeffries: "Donald Trump promised that he would lower housing costs on day one. Here's a suggestion for the Trump administration: try to legislate, and maybe we can find common ground in order to get something done for the American people."

Aren't there penalties for lying to the Court?
Jesus fucking christ. The Trump administration tried to send a bunch of children to Guatemala at 3 am and justified it by saying that the kids just wanted to return to their parents in Guatemala, but the kids actually told the court that they are afraid of being sent back to Guatemala.

NEW: The Texas legislature passed an anti-trans bill which restricts restroom use in public buildings across the state.

Instead of addressing residents' needs like disaster relief, Texas politicians used a special session to attack trans rights.

Our communities deserve better.

Sweeps exacerbate homelessness — they can be traumatic, dangerous, and leave people without belongings and vital records.

Unhoused people need housing and services, not sweeps.

Neither he nor anyone else gets to decide which residents of Washington DC are or are not "part of the city."

If people did get to make this kind of judgments, I'd say that Stephen Miller is not part of my country. But unfortunately, I would be wrong.
Stephen Miller: "All these demonstrators that you've seen out here in recent days, all these elderly white hippies, they're not part of the city and never have been ... we're gonna ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they're all over 90 years old."

MAGA, at its core, is a cult of abuse. The right to abuse, the justification for abuse, the dopamine rush they get from abusing others, is built into every policy, every program, every line of rhetoric. They identify with abusers because they want to abuse people.
So this is happening

Robert F. Kennedy Jr announced last week that the US federal government is terminating US$500 million worth of grants for mRNA vaccine research.

We must never, ever, forget that millions are alive today, or in better health, because of this life-saving technology.

Cancelling mRNA studies is the highest irresponsibility
The rest of the world is not following the US government’s dangerous path, and will stick with the technology that helped the world out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Was reminded of Bentham’s argument that fear of crime can be a worse harm than crime itself. Everyone can be affected by fear of crime but relatively few people experience serious crime. And fear of crime can easily be manipulated for nefarious purposes.
