Modal filters (rising bollards) are known to be friendly to (mini)buses, taxis etc. Anywho, schemes like Vienna´s are not about banning privately owned/operated cars. You can still access nearly every bit of the city by car but not drive through it. This is to incentivise active travel/PT

As Peter said that´s not what was claimed on here. Though Reform are made up mostly of tail-end boomers, and of course of white men who start sentences with "Now I´m no racist but...". That´s not to say they include some very silly, young ´un turkeys who vote for Christmas, though.

What do you mean cars tend to play with cars? Whatever aspect of risk you may or may not refer to "marginally less" is just wrong. I don´t get what meaning the word social is meant to convey here nor how it´s in any way relevant.

I don´t think ANPR even records L1e-Bs... Somebody correct me if I´m wrong. By the way the province of Antwerp now has a blanket 25 km/h limit on bike infra because of L1e-Bs. Thanks fucktards. You´ve made your own 45 km/h vehicle pointless and ruined it for the rest of us.

Indeed. Why aren´t you allowed to have nice things?

If that´s the precondition to removing cars from streets even incrementally good PT ain´t never gonna happen. When we removed that good PT and made space for cars nobody said everybody needed to have a car from day one for it to happen. Ditto for motorways. (Photo streetcar.la)

I tried one of these once at a bike exhibition in Brussels. Very well built and more versatile than just a bit of plywood with straps is. (Photo by Jason Ford off of the Other Place) bakkiecycles.fr

Look at an atlas. Most cities were built either either side of a river or on the coast. I don´t really now what you mean by bespoke solutions. The whole focus on infrastructure is misleading. Cities in DK and NL got rid of many cars by getting rid of many cars. The cycling infra came later.

You mean the Artic in front or the Valmets in the back? I would´ve thought the modern one is just ... modern and the ones in the back are your typical seventies boxy ones. Now these were adorable but sadly decommissioned apart from this one example that you can hire for events. (Photo Kalle Id)

Nothing special there. The Zeitgeist then (circa 1930-) was to get bikes off carriageways. Even in the UK planners built interconnected cycle networks. The tide swung only in the 70s and only in NL when motorists were physically prevented from traversing cities thanks to Stop de Kindermoord.

"You saved Europe" pätee ennen kaikkea kanukkeihin, jotka avasivat meritien Antwerpeniin hirvittävissä olosuhteissa Schelden mutaisessa suistossa sillä aikaa kun Montgomery otti vastaan voitonparaateja. Se marsalkka olis pitänyt pistää keinuun.

Remarkable. It´s always the men what wear headgear on the wrong side of exterior doors. I once had one look at his brewery´s tins and immediately thought "hipster sh1te". I´m sure he´d oppose a glass bottle deposit scheme because there´d be less space for inane graphics and cringey blurb.

Ha! You know why I missed that? It´s because nicknames for some cars and vans are so ingrained (Disco or Disco Very, Pornstarter (Transporter)) that some people like myself never even think of them being called what´s actually written on the back.

A high-ranking British special forces officer once said Helsinki was the European capital he´d least like to try to invade. You can see for yourself if you go for a swim, do all manner of sports or park. Just the ventilation and air filtering kit is something to behold. (Photo: Liikuntavirasto)

The Dutch got there because the rot had spread much, much further than it did in many other parts of the world. They brought in a madman (or is it a Mad Man) called Jokinen to oversee a project to raze the Hague and A´dam to the ground and build motorways on top. Some of his plan was built.
