Homeland Security themselves is claiming that Padilla didn't identify himself too. So dangerous for reporters and anchors to just believe them at their word when clear video shows otherwise.
A Tweet from Homeland Security (@ DHS gov) that says "Senator Padilla chose disrespectful political theatre and interrupted a live press conference without identifying himself or having his Senate security pin on as he lunged toward Secretary Noem. Mr. Padilla was told repeatedly to back away and did not comply with officers’ repeated commands. @SecretService thought he was an attacker and officers acted appropriately. Secretary Noem met with Senator Padilla after and held a 15 minute meeting."

This is what Homeland Security had to say about shoving a sitting Senator out of the room before he could question Secretary Noem.

This is revisionist, and both this action and the retelling of what happened are straight out of the fascist playbook.

Homeland Security's statement on what just happened to Sen. Padilla is straight up denial of fact. Acording to them, he "interrupted a live press conference without identifying himself".

In the video he says in the first few seconds "I'm Senator Alex Padilla, I have questions for the Secretary."
