States can also seek to give people a right to sue for damages if federal officials unconstitutionally harm them. A few states already have such laws, and others are considering them. Efforts to use these laws will no doubt be contested, but states have good legal responses. 3/3 go.wisc.edu/l6z2yx

The detail in just this one excerpt is impressive. I was familiar with the premise that these are intentional, state-sponsored efforts to privilege abusers and rapists over pregnant people, but there are so many specific examples I wasn't aware of. Learned a lot and look forward to reading the book.

I think this is the most likely scenario. Maybe the DOJ even received assurances from their "Client" that no action would be taken during that 24-hour extension period. But that's why you withdraw from representation (or resign) when you first come to understand your client is a sociopath.
