Oh for sure. Hence why I said "could've." Was not saying that was on the table, I just also find the "those 8 are just covering for the rest of the caucus" theory implausible also.

I see what you're saying. Idk maybe. Feels like the goal of that would be to avoid disarray perception, and this feels very much like a Dems in Disarray situation.

Sorry the progressives would've voted yes to re-open in this scenario, whatever

Instead we're getting Tim Kaine flailing. I think it's a true defection by the cave caucus with some sympathetic Senators having to vote yes out of fear of backlash.

Jesus, people, I'm not saying they'll all fall on their swords because we ask politely.

You demand a politician's resignation not because you think it will actually happen, but because you want to make it clear you think it *should* happen, you're that pissed off.

It's a vote of no confidence.

Kaine voted for Sean Duffy, Kristi Noem, Scott Bessent. He's been voting in Trump judges. Ain't about just one vote.

There's certainly a chance but it's worth the risk. The right move would be send someone from a safe seat in the House or GA, with maybe a preference toward House of Delegates since Dems have such a large majority now.
