I always thought that that was because Germans weren't used to them, but apparently it actually means "who goes there?" in German, which people would ask when opening the high window.

Interesting new plan from Ed Miliband today - in terms of value for money tho he should drop the heat pump subsidy (and the battery one) and go all in on solar - we could solarise 10m homes with that £15bn - it’s the most economic technology we have for homes and we can slash energy bills this way.

My class made a video to go with his 'Right, Said Fred' and I gave him a copy.
He asked for the names of every child involved.
A couple.of weeks later, the school received a box of goodies and handwritten notes for every child.
