If they had any sympathy for the victims they would have insisted that the proper legal processes take place, and, if he was exonerated he could then come back and carry on as normal. Instead they've tried to shield him until it affects the rest of them, then dumped him to protect themselves.

I agree they are incompetent, but they won't be writing the code and implementing the system, so I think that's a moot point. Most of what's required (code, infrastructure) already exists in other systems, so it could be done quite quickly, and competence isn't an issue, just political will.

I have to say I think this is a weird argument. If there is a reform govt they could implement digital ID anyway (regardless of manifesto commitments) so Starmer not doing it affects the future how?

Driving home early one morning I stopped at a motorway service station for a coffee. Held the door open for the bearded bloke who was heading in the other direction, who was Dave from Chas & Dave. I've just had to Google them to find out which one he was.

I used to work for a banks IT dept and one of the section managers used to insist on travelling first class on the train, and staying in a 4 star hotel, because he was a manager. Any staff who accompanied him went 2nd class and a 3 star hotel. He was a complete *&@+ in lots of other ways as well
