Why @councilorgreen.bsky.social & @jamiedunphy.bsky.social would be “defunding” small business in Portland with their amendment to cut all general fund money from Prosper Portland. No one in community asked them to do this and it would have catastrophic consequences.

Let’s get a few things straight cause I know you are new at this economic development stuff….
The “slush” fund is called the “Strategic Investment Fund” which allows the city to make funds available outside of urban renewal areas which by state law can only cover 15% of the city of Portland.

Prosper has shown their hand.
They said they won't listen to the legal direction from the City Council.
The amendment we proposed fully funds our EcDev programs, preserves jobs Prosper wants to cut, and allows the City Council to not take as deep of cuts.
This dynamic needs to change.
