Yeah, I'm fine with the infill, fine with density if it means we get better bus service on the #10 ... def not NIMBYing anything, but would like to see affordability in our neighborhood preserved. I have concerns that many of these new homes are going to cost a lot.

Yeah, I think I understand your view now, thanks for taking time out of your day to explain it to me.

(P.S. Good report, enjoyed reading, thanks for sharing.)

Ah, so I misread the tone of your OP. You weren't cheerleading the possibility, just stating a fact. Thanks for clarifying, because seems like a mixed bag from my view.

I know passing RIP required big tradeoffs, but damn if these per/sq ft prices aren't pretty damn high for buyers.

What I'm getting at is: what guarantee is there that if we took the REACH properties out of the affordable market, up-developed them & put them back on the market that anything resulting would be affordable? Are there covenants in place or something?

(Forgive, I've been in transpo too long lol)

What I'm seeing in my n'hood corner (now split) R2.5 lots: 1 BIG main house w ADU attached + 2 sm houses. Here's one example. (Main houses on 6481 & 6491 are bigger than 6471.) That's 12 units: are any affordable? (This was previously one big ole house.)

Do you have data that the infill is preserving affordability? If so, where can I find it? Thank you for your advocacy!

Guessing it's the frog suits, but outsiders are too glib about our conviviality.

Fascism & white supremacy are politics of hatred, disconnection. We fight back with community as a weapon.

My heart is so full for the countless organizers who sustain this work all year when no cameras are on them.

Portland is good at antifascism because we have always had to fight against homegrown fascists. Let's not forget that, or sugar-coat it.

It's not all shits & giggles here; opposite, in fact.

The last decade has been incredibly hard. We struggle w/ housing shortage, poverty, homelessness, addiction. Crumbling infrastructure. Federal disinvestment & broken tax structure. And the business lobby turns on community at every opportunity.

We don't have a football team, so we do this every Sunday in the fall.

But srsly, People need to read more about Portland, OR: we've been doing conservation, participatory democracy, antifascism for decades.

Hard work building civic infrastructure is why we're capable of resistance like this.

The US federal attack on Portland has resulted in the best advertisement for a city that I have ever seen. Round-the-clock joy, community solidarity and silliness that much of the West has lost and longs for.

Keep sharing these videos; it’s evidence.

That said, TST Action Fund endorsed Mayor Hu for his council seat in 2022, so I'll remain optimistic.
sarahforpdx.bsky.social
His predecessor Mayor Lueb was one of the loudest multimodal/complete streets champions in the state and it's a great loss to our movement. I'm told the new mayor is already deprioritizing safety investments on Hall Blvd.

Policies & priorities are as important as commute mode, dig a little deeper.

ERO/ICE agents crossed the street into the crowd to grab this protester. Agents on the roof shot pepper balls at the crowd.

Portlanders bring brass bands in banana suits and bicyclists in birthday suits.

Trump's occupying forces respond by shooting at the crowd with so-called "less lethal" projectiles, which are actually very harmful to humans.

Ole milkshake face, fash-chaser And* Ng* has been scrambling for relevance since he was working on the Portland State newspaper and renting a room in a ranch house at the base of Mt Tabor, don't let his fake Essex accent fool you.

Total loser, all day every day.
