I am a loudmouth from Portsmouth. I love public education, getting around on a bike & e-cargo bike with 2 kids and creating a better future for everyone. #YIMBY #ClimateAction #Urbanism
If we can make Preschool for All universal, it seems like it makes Portland hugely competitive to attract this type of family to jobs here. It's like a $1000/month/kid (at least) benefit for employees that work here versus somewhere without free preschool.

I don't think OR Dems being afraid of their shadow on revenue increasing policies will make them more likely to follow your advice w/ the right intensity if they are not even capturing money handed out to well-off people from cutting essential services. But I would LOVE to be wrong.

He described the fraud he was perpetrating as he was doing it, because he thought he was smarter than anyone else because he was being interviewed by Bloomberg's Matt Levine.

The main reason they could succeed is inability of the Oregon Dems to do anything that requires an ounce of courage or ambition. On education funding, they cut in real terms while passing new unfunded accountability mandates. That kind of shit is why people see public services underdelivering.

The GOP will refer it, of course they will! They can't even accept the shitty transpo bill! This comes down to a binary choice of food, healthcare and education for Oregonians vs additional tax cuts for people who did fine without them. @oregondems.bsky.social need to be ready to say "bring it on!"

The solution is to ride the anti-oligarchy block and raise taxes on the wealthiest in proportion to what they get in tax cuts from Trump. He opened a huge door in SALT credits to ease the pain of the cost for the $200k-$500k income HHs who serve as "sympathetic average Joe professionals" 🙄 in ads.

But look at this chart, from a CBO letter linked to in the article. People at top end of the income scale is getting a massive windfall, on the backs of people on the lower end. Oregon could and should plug the budget gap by taxing that windfall. Call it the Big Beautiful Surcharge. 3/

And by "work", I mean kidnapping goons squads for the fascist leader of the US. (He acknowledged the 'fascist' label was accurate yesterday on camera). #FuckICE

Don't forget instead of infrastructure, ODOT put up "crosswalk closed" signs to make people walk many blocks out of the way to get a protected crossing.

After claiming the Dems didn't have a supermajority, my state Senator told a gathering of education advocates interested in revenue for state-funded programs basically "why bother, voters will just undo it in a referendum". Pretty clear there's a "afraid of their shadow" problem among the caucus.

I hate those fucking signs. bsky.app/profile/pdxb...
Commit to never installing this type of sign again and slow cars and installation crosswalks so it isnt necessary.

His whole email newsletter is consistently a joke, no more worthy of a read than the NW Examiner (derogatory).
