Looking forward to that promised Thatcherism discussion, Vlad.

To speak of Reagan and Thatcher and those who laid groundwork for or came in with them as pro-institutional rather than institution-constrained seems to me wrong, though I appreciate the case can be made. Historians will want a say!

That’s a hell of a way to run a news organisation.

I worked 43 years in journalism, for a lot of news organisations, but I never encountered such political pressure being exerted by the top on news stories.

Stories with predetermined narratives that fit the leader’s personal views.

a post-WW2 backlash against organized-labor gains of the ’20s & ’30s, drenched in ideology of individual attainment and competition/exclusion, which has yet to subside (though that is gradually happening)

also just tremendous economics illiteracy, helped by the distortion effect of the U.S. economy

Caroline Pritchard, Joanna Ho & Dan Santat created the book THE DAY THE STORIES DISAPPEARED. It emphasizes no one is invisible in stories. Books make all our voices worthy ✨

YOUR voice deserves to be told.

You belong in books, belong in Libraries, belong in the world… you belong everywhere 💚
