We’re glad to see The Irish Times finally taking an interest in foreign military use of Shannon, something we’ve raised for decades while calling for the eviction of the US military from the airport. But like every debate on neutrality, peace and security, this article uses a far-fetched imaginary s

In the dead of night the government just signed away Irelands right to challenge corporations! Now the right to profit is the sole privilege of massive multinational companies and vulture funds who can drag the government to court if they harm their profits. For context, it’s easier for us to leave

Scandalously at 1am, the government has just pushed through a law with far reaching ramifications.

It allows them to sign up to a parallel court process only accessible by corporations. There they can sue Ireland if we do anything to interfere with their "right" to profit.

We need a movement of all those abandoned by these mouthpieces for global capital and the landlords to resist every eviction, resist rent increases and fight back against the destruction of our communities by the precarity of insecure tenancies and landlord neglect. We have to say enough is enough,

FG, FF, SF & Independent Ireland just handed €100m of public money to horse & greyhound racing — 3x the funding for all sports. €20m for a cruel greyhound industry. This establishment has its priorities wrong.

Uber’s “fixed fares” are a race to the bottom for taxi drivers and a rip-off for the public. A not-for-profit, publicly run taxi app would protect workers and users. Transport should serve people, not tech giants.

The Labour Party now says it’s a ‘Connollyite Republican’ party — but are they for real?
At a recent conference, Ivana Bacik claimed the Labour Party were now a 'Connollyite Republican' party. The announcement reflects a wider shift in Irish politics, but questions how deep does the commitment go.

The housing crisis isn’t an accident - it’s the result of landlords price-gouging ordinary people for profit, while big investors and vulture funds snap up nearly 80% of homes sold in this state.

On top of that, for every 1 long-term rental, there are 12 Airbnbs - a system that puts tourists ahead

This is a government that sides with landlords and developers.
They won’t ban economic evictions, they allow rents to spiral, and they funnel huge sums of public money to the same developers.
While their circle gets richer, families and children are left without homes.

Labour and the Greens have betrayed tenants in Dublin.
Tonight they joined Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael to raise rents on the poorest people in this city - rejecting a credible, fully costed People Before Profit alternative by a single vote.
