Once again, the #teslatakedown movement provides a great case study in innovative (and effective) protest tactics. Scholars of social movements take note!
In Los Gatos, California, the Tesla dealership started parking cars in the parking lane to block the view of #teslatakedown protestors from passing traffic. So the team put their heads together and deployed this today. (Second pic is the backside of the banner.) A+ creativity.

Uni budgets are also automated with internal costing systems that distribute resources according to funding formulas. Like any socio-technical system, they are not easy to change. Even if you could close the T+L Center, you can't easily move that money elsewhere, like to faculty salaries.
I see discussion about university budgets and the new round of austerity and I just want to do my PSA: budgets are more complex than what they seem and, no, cutting one slice won’t solve the pie’s larger problem.

My state-mandated Annual Ethics Training is due soon and I'm tempted to just say, "fuck it, it's all ethical now." I mean, really, what good does it do to affirm that I can't accept a book as a gift when this is happening at the highest levels and in broad daylight?

The HP Used Book Sale is a local treasure. Given who lives in the neighborhood and donates, it just might be the best used book sale going. Our family always makes the annual pilgrimage (and goes home with more than we can reasonably carry).

This is the biggest attack on free speech since the McCarthy era but it also has significantly less popular consensus behind it than the second Red Scare. It's being done on behalf of a minority faction led by the most unpopular president in modern history. Organizing against this can win.
