A less noticed fact about this nominee is that he doesn't have a college degree. If I were to seek employment as an entry-level tax associate, I would be required to have a degree. But for leading the IRS, I guess that's good enough? I dunno, it's weird that this is the best we can do.

A Macy's accountant "hid" $154 million of expenses over several years. There was no embezzlement. The expenses were legitimate. What was the motive? The article doesn't say. But it hints at incompetence and/or lack of qualified accounting personnel.
