I think some have done the math and found that if you give $2000 to every taxpayer that earns less than $100,000/yr, or even $75,000, there wasn’t enough tariff money to cover the cost.

Tearing down our research science infrastructure and scattering generations of 100,000 scientists to the winds cannot be rebuilt like a building can.
It will take *literally* decades to regain what we are losing.
We can’t go back, it’s already too late.
We must move forward.
I hope someone is making plans to rebuild all our national science institutions when this nightmare is finally over
