Not really tearing it up in MLS Next Pro, although SKC 2 was the worst team in the league and that could affect the overall outlook

This quote gives me pause, though it’s not Sogut saying it - for pretty much every great MLS team the foundation is domestic, and DC’s foundation is basically condemned at this point.

Brian Gutierrez decided to have the best game by Net G+ of his entire career last night, and the best performance by a CM in as far back as G+ goes. (of course the positional definitions are a little fuzzy, but still)

I'm not convinced that optimizing set pieces necessarily reduces open play scoring. I think the dip in open play scoring could be due to a different cause, such as teams defending differently. While open play passes are down, dead balls aren't necessarily up:

Not sure when this was added but SofaScore now has what appears to be a genuine, live expected possession model built into their app. That’s a pretty big step forward.

If I were an MLS team in the market for an 8, I think Leo Walta at IK Sirius might be on the top of my list. He's not really a true 10, though, and he might be a little too expensive to pry out of Sweden without a DP deal.

Seymour Reid makes Doyle's "just missed the cut list", and I wanted to add a little context on this snippet.
Reid loses value on his receiving simply for not getting on the ball in the box, and if you watch him you can see he's a little hesitant making his runs in that area. Needs to improve.
