"After all, as a second lab colleague said, “Jim has been gliding on that one day in 1953 for 70 years.”"

What a horrible arse he turned out to be
pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

Off the top of my head, there have been four egregious examples of weapons grade public racism in the last couple of weeks - Jenrick; the Express hack; Captain Concrete & the Reform woman. The way they are treated by employers, punters & wider media, will directly influence how much more we see.

This is imho the opportunity and the risk.

"Overseeing" multiple underwhelming threads of work is emotionally exhausting

Helping with multiple exciting threads of work is energising

As always, part of the work of senior+ is making sure it's more of the good and less of the bad
I get a feeling that working with multiple AI agents is something that comes VERY natural to most senior+ engineers or tech lead who worked at a large company

You already got used to overseeing parallel work (the goto code reviewer!) + making progress with small chunks of work
