How about some nice shiny tomatoes for a sunny Sunday (here in France, at least). I painted a few of these tomato paintings as I loved the shape and the warm reds.

There's that hat and suitcase again. This was a commission for a man's son, whose trumpet is on top of the case.

A different painting today: an old French door knocker in Angouleme. I intentionally left the knocker at an angle instead of straight up and down.

Another of my trompe l'oeil paintings and another tangerine 😉😁 Oil on panel.

This painting was done on a deep cradled panel, so that when it's on a wall it will give more reality to the trompe l'oeil (3D) effect.

In painting this, it was the composition of the angle of the knife and the angle of the shadow that I liked (against the roundness of the pear).

This trompe l'oeil painting goes back a while, but makes me want to do more of these. I love the challenge of trying to get that depth to 'fool the eye'.

Another painting of a peeled tangerine, but this time it was the light in the shadow area of the tangerine that made me want to paint this one.

I can only find a small photo of this painting .... orange is the theme, even the background 😉

Thank you .... this is a life size one of the same suitcase.

😊Here's another one of the same suitcase. This one is actually life size.

This was life size ... now in a restaurant in France.

I like the shadows of the hat and the handle in this painting. Done on oil primed fine Belgian linen for a change.

Todays painting (only one today as I'm teaching my class of French students later and trying to get some work done before that).

Todays painting is off a peeled orange. I really enjoy painting peeled fruit as it reminds me of the old Flemish masters that I love so much.

Old cast iron, French, cooking pot (that lives next to my living room stone fireplace - where it would have been originally) and some kind of pumpkin (?).

You may guess that I love painting lemons, I just hope that you enjoy looking at them 😆

Another fruit painting to finish the day. Peach, one of my favourites with yoghurt.

First painting of the day.
This is a rare one, done on canvas ... usually I prefer the smoother finish of MDF panels that I make myself.
