A thousand times yes, unless on a leash.
Safer for the cats, safer for other wildlife.

I guess it'll be an easy choice if one needs to be surrendered.

Love this, thank you.

“I pick them up whenever I see them.

Then when I see a place that needs an oak tree, I push an acorn into the soil.”

I smiled and felt a prickle run up my spine. 11/12

It's a tiny (really minuscule) joy that I posted the entire 2-year legal saga on a private FB group & now he has 100s of people who actively hate him without knowing his name or where he lives. Like, people who wanted to come down here to the trial.

Most people love trees.

And what does he even gain from this except to come off as a jerk.

He has always seemed like an A-1, top-shelf, self-overrating, next level mini-drip on so many levels.

Well that certainly is the case with this guy, who we nicknamed The Thumb for his general appearance and grace.

Again, a deep lack of understanding about the world around him and his place in it. Another place to do work: School classes to educate kids about exactly this point.

First thing the new neighbor told me: "I hate trees. They make such a mess."

Like, dude, you are breathing because of trees. Get over yourself and and your weird superiority complex.

Oh, and I also planted SEVEN new trees 6 feet from the border. No one can say peep about them legally. I stipulated that he couldn't touch trunk halves/root systems on our side - bc he is ignorant, he doesn't realize they are already sending up shoots of new ash trees that will outlive all of us.

Well, I write about it. A lot.
But I am also working to figure out how to change the laws, locally and state-wide. Bc his actions changed the entire ecosystem of our garden (and his, which he paved over). The trees are gone, but I'll fight so the same doesn't happen to others due to ignorance.

I write a lot about this because: The first thing our new neighbor did when we moved was demand that we cut down a row of old ash trees on the property line.
No discussion. When we refused, he took us to court - and he won. No protection for residential trees in France. So what am I doing? 1/2

In the old days (30 years ago) our little eastern French village of 600 had no house numbers and we lived up a narrow one-way dirt road.

The post mistress knew every single door, family, and person. She came around, knocked, had a chat, and nothing ever got lost. It was a lovely bygone era.

Hang on, can judges just be summarily fired?

My photo of some of these mushrooms I recently saw while out on a walk.
Seriously, red with spots = Do Not Eat. If they had little fairy-sized bullhorns, they would be telling passers-by not to touch them.
