We embarked on a garden renovation project three years ago. One of the goals was to make a place that would be pollinator-friendly for as much of the year as possible. The pasque flower isn't the very first to bloom, but look at all that pollen.

The local solitary bees are on the hunt for good nesting sites. This one checked out a window sill but concluded we were unworthy.

I planted this star magnolia two years ago. It's still small, but it's doing its best this spring.
That dense mass in the tree beyond is a Eurasian jay nest. They live here, too.
