Why are purple candles so hard to find in France? So now we have blue advent candles and that’s perfectly fine, but I’m trying to not start making my own pillar candles.

Christmas is starting to ramp up before the first Sunday of Advent here in Paris. Decorations continue to go up and the trees are showing up at shops!

Remember to plug in your pets before you go to bed. That way they will be ready to play in the morning!

Snow is starting to stick to some things! I’m going to bed now though.

It’s snowing tonight in Paris! The ground isn’t cool enough for the snow to stick yet. It’s still really pretty!

Wonderful afternoon reconnecting with divinity school friend, @pastorsings.bsky.social, while she’s in town. Little tour of our restored cathedral and an afternoon coffee + conversation.

This is the best photo that I can make and it’s not that good. Wish I could see the aurora here.

I have a message as an honorary Parisian, when there is nothing to be thankful for (no Thanksgiving) you can decorate for Christmas in early November!

“Is this like the Louvre thing?”
“It is! Do you have any jewels?”
“lol, I wish!”

Carried our cat - Serif - to the vet yesterday to get squished and a vaccine. Stopped to let him look around a bit along the way. I had to reach down in the backpack to lift him out, which he seemed to appreciate. If his looking around intensely smelling the air was any indication.

Look at us as little babies (university students) all the way back in 2005. Twenty years later and we still got it.

Such a great verse from the Magnificat. Our Urban Monastic version is pretty similar.

"He has torn the mighty from their thrones, *
and lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things, *
and sent the rich away empty."

Adapted it for a protest sign last weekend. Works well!

Also, a photo of our signs. The bigger/longer one is from the Magnificat in Luke and the smaller from the Lord’s Prayer.

A couple shots of the #NoKings protest in Paris 🇫🇷 this afternoon. More people than last time asked if my collar was a costume. My guess is because of my fellow clergy getting assaulted by law enforcement and that making the news. I am actually a minister and missionary in France.

Look who I bumped into at #NoKings in Paris today! It’s so nice to catch up with @chrisinparis.bsky.social

I only ever buy Monster Munch during the spooky month of October (because of Halloween). It’s fun and super crunchy. #AmericanInParis

Our cat had a great day getting blessed at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity here in Paris (part of the Episcopal Convocation of Europe). Many comments for how fluffy and how big he is. I’m pretty sure he was bigger than half the dogs who were there. ⚓️

"Real-time Gun Detection and automated lockdowns" for churches. This was in this sales email I got, and I want off this ride. Kyrie Ellison.

I understand the need to keep our churches safe, but I wish the US would choose to make everywhere and everyone safe instead.

First day off of cold medication and I can breathe through my nose! I’m living the dream!

Back on my grind after a week at the Abbey and a week recovering from a nasty cold (not covid - I tested). First egg photo on my phone in over 2 weeks. If AI was real it would have been real concerned.

Our friend Leslie came through town so at tried out Lulu’s Crêperie at Enfant Rouge. It’s awesome and their confit onions are worth it.

I took this photo this morning after praying vigils with the brothers at Lérins Abbaye (and my dear friend @vgaudrat.bsky.social) . It wasn’t yet 6am, and the sun wouldn’t rise until 7:15. This is only lit by the moonlight. The shutter was open for a minute to capture enough light… 1/2 🧵

404: Paul not found.

I’ll be back next week. Been praying and resting at Lérins Abbaye this week. It has been good for my soul in many ways.

I don’t understand these questions. I can find food from all of the world in cities within every slice.

We either take it as it stands today, or play some pseudo-history dart game that decides when the ‘true’ food from each region was at their magical ‘pure’ point in history.
