So long as we’re defining theology, I would say, tho they use some similar imagery and some similar texts, LDS adherents aren’t Christians.

Oh it’s definitely a real thing, as was Manichaeism. There were many offshoots of monotheism in late antiquity.

Early Christians were just Jewish people who followed a new Rabbi named Jesus. But we categorize them separately from the Jewish people.

It may be splitting hairs, and maybe I wrote too broadly, but LDS is definitely not a believer in the Nicene Christian doctrine which is the orthodox Christian tradition going back 1700 years of most denominations.

Other traditions may use the imagery of Christ but are not of the Nicene tradition.

The rezoning is a start. There’s still just tons of empty land ripe for infill. And it’s minutes from downtown.

Is the commission even useful at this point? It was formed to buy up what they saw as “blight” in the 40s and 50s to bulldoze and make parking lots. Not sure what use it serves now.

This is the vision that suburban mayors and Chicago alders in far flung neighborhoods should have for the rail corridors. I know Toronto isn’t perfect, but every Metra and CTA outskirts station should have a cluster of high rises.

I accept haha, a lane for buses and one for bikes and the rest is pedestrian!

The LDS don’t see Jesus as a member of the trinity. They don’t believe in the trinity at all. It’s more similar to how Islamic tradition views Jesus.

They believe God had a wife. They’re theology is closer to paganism with the veneer of Abrahamic tradition

For political purposes yes it’s not much different from Christian nationalism, but for theological purposes LDS is not Christian.

We should pedestrianize it - imagine how magical it would be during the holidays

Do you know anything about the commission?

I did some digging and the district looks like a it’s a special government authority empowered by the state legislature to have exclusive zoning rights.

It seems like they’re not doing much to encourage until - there’s tons of empty lots.
