Frankenstein's Monster Mk II

"Are we going to just stand here, or are we going to play?"

So much gaslighting out of those types, I swear they're going to outlaw lightbulbs and demand we go back to actual gas-powered lighting...

But probably one of the most brilliant villains in sci-fi.

Yeah, Marco Inaros makes Worf look like a serious contender for dad of the year.
August 18, 2025 at 4:53 PM
And to Filip. And everyone else around him.

Marco Inaros is really just a grade A scumbag. Still loved him as a villain, books and show alike. And in a way, he's a tragic figure who has no clue he's just [someone else's] smokescreen.

Such a brilliant villain, too. Charismatic, smart, even has something resembling a plan for after he wins. Even though he's got no clue he's really just someone else's smokescreen. Makes him a tragic figure, in a way.

Still think he got off easy, though.

Well, one thing for sure, the MAGAs could definitely afford to be reminded of the Commandment about bearing false witness. Not that it'll stick.

Or Dominic Keating in The Sojourn, of course!

...planned and defined desired end-state with clear notions of how they want things to run once they've defeated any who are before them? Love them.

Examples: the ones played by Giancarlo Esposito, or the Marco Inaros, Duarte and Sadavir Errinwright from The Expanse.

The type of villains I find really boring are the "burn the world and rule over the ashes" types like Voldemort or Sauron/Morgoth (Heath Ledger's Joker being the exception).

But the ones with a plan for after they win, the ones who think they're doing the right thing, the ones with a...

Wanna bet she'll be Epsteined before too long?
August 5, 2025 at 11:23 PM
I both love and despise Dominic Keating's character. Not a traditional villain, nor a traditional good guy either. More like... playing his own game in morally grey circles. But I hate his manipulation of you-know-who.

No spoilers.

Welcome to the first few years post-9/11. Hell, I was even traveling in uniform and the security types took a metal ruler from my carry-on. But what do I spy across the aisle from me? A little old lady with 14-inch large-gauge steel knitting needles.

47 and his Gestapo can't piss off GOP donors in Red states, can he?
July 13, 2025 at 10:18 AM
So... when's Volume 3? Left that one a hell of a cliffhanger!
July 13, 2025 at 4:19 AM
I have my stretch of night shifts coming up. I know what I'm doing to stay awake
July 5, 2025 at 9:47 PM
Nope. Not in a million years.
June 27, 2025 at 8:36 PM
Can't wait. And I really like how you come to a climactic moment, and it's almost immediately followed by a lull. I find it really immersive as it really reminds me of the period that felt unnaturally slow after every - shall we say - bit of excitement I've had to deal with when I was still in.

No need to specify "environmental".
June 3, 2025 at 1:30 AM
I'm fairly certain that a MAGA could stub their toe going to the bathroom at 2 in the morning, then dribble in their shorts afterwards, and they'd STILL blame Biden for that.
May 12, 2025 at 3:52 AM
I firmly believe the NWC is a truly abhorrent part of our Constitution, and any politician who uses it clearly admits they fully intend to violate people's rights or otherwise break the law.
April 15, 2025 at 7:15 AM
But they got pretty good watertight integrity. At least one fore and aft, just to make sure.
