One of the people fired from NOAA today is the director of the Ocean Acidification Program. That program also leads the U.S. government's effort on marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR). The destruction of American science is incomprehensible.

Very cool publication and accompanying thread on the AMOC.

The Southern Ocean - also a global hotspot for photosynthetic productivity - continues to surprise. So many of my colleagues from grad school studied southern ocean phenomena - it’s crucial we keep this research going!
🌊 Today in @nature.com: Is the AMOC on the brink of collapse?

Unlikely before 2100—but the risks are real 🚨

We find Southern Ocean winds keep this vital ocean "heat engine" running, even under extreme #climatechange. But the Pacific holds a surprise…

I’m Patrick - I’m a SoCal resident working in San Diego’s biotechnology scene.

I’m going to do my best to post and share often about climate-positive biotech, our oceans (thanks @scrippsocean.bsky.social for the PhD education!) and California politics. It takes all of us to make a difference!
