bloodlines is really funny, most effective splatstick since 2, errs on too self aware tho. new gimmick is super fun and a lot of good will is bought by having the survivors have a reason to be warm to each other for once.

record number of deaths that just kinda arbitrarily torture the person with things that aren't really instrumental in the death, like that one scene had me frozen with stress but it was all just to compromise her so she slips and falls out a building, like just spill hot coffee on her at that point

5 is ok. I like the focus on more squeamish relatable pains like small sharp objects, dismemberment is a bit of a distant concept for me.

and maybe that's fine, like gyo is a horror manga that just validates one specific unrealistic fear, but final destination is so attuned to realistic anxious thought patterns where plausible problems stack up to catastrophe, & then 4 is like "also what if there was a shark in the pool"

these movies have value to me as OCD exposure therapy, they're catastrophization movies. but the point of catastrophization is that every link in the chain is plausible, if there's too much of a leap it's just like "well that wouldn't happen"

she would have let a child die and his living family would think they lost another family member to music and purposefully forget about him just like we have already seen them do. miguel has no relationships outside his family & he'd disappear in like 20 years
