Roughing it in the Himalayas? A friend just completed a trek to Annapurna Base Camp; he reports the existence of espresso machines on the trail.

When my dog is begging for food and I order him to leave the dining room, he walks away in exaggerated slow motion. He cannot but have noticed how this makes us burst into loud laughter every time. Is this behavior his sense of humor or just a strategy for getting more food? Maybe both.

Chinese car owners would pay crazy money to get assigned this auspicious tag number, which has “wealth wealth wealth wealth”embedded in it.

Lately there's been a surge of weirdness in the analytics for www.pamela-logan.com. Top countries for visitors to my site are, in order, China, Singapore, United States, Brazil (!), Iraq (!?!?), India, and Saudi Arabia (!?!?!?!?). You're welcome to visit, people, come on over! Truly a WTF moment.

Here’s an excerpt from a Rokpa International post. It’s wild to me that some folks are glad when the army shows up to take control. 😮Different situation in #Nepal, of course.

I commented on a news post about polyandry in India, stating that I have met several Tibetan families w/one wife and 2 husbands and written about it. A few posts later & I scored an order of my book, Compassion Mandala.

I'm searching for a Serapu Village (色拉铺村) in Balang Valley (巴郎河谷), south of Gongbo Gyamda. I think it might be somewhere in this sat pic, even tho no such label appears. I've poured ridiculous hours into searching online under various alternate spellings. Help!? #Serapu #crowdsourcing #Tibet

Ad from National Geographic Magazine, February 1930 edition, which I have in my library because it carries an article by Joseph Rock, explorer of the Sino-Tibetan frontier.

Did AT&T deliver on their promise? I think so. #telephone

I acquired this painting from the little monastery above the towers. I saw it in 2007 and asked to buy it from the monk-painter there, but instead of discussing price, he just gave it to me. He used the same primary-color paints commonly used in monastic decor, and the material is plywood.

I splurged on this latest addition to my Kham book collection. Can’t wait to crack it open.

Serious question: I’m writing my will and would like to find a worthy recipient for my library on #Kham. Organizations preferred, but individuals will be considered. DM me. #Tibetbooks #Tibetlibrary

Today I put on a chuba that a tailor in Dege made for me 30 years ago. I barely managed to tie the belt, but I'm proud to say it pretty much still fits. The event was a speech for a local Rotary club in Oregon. The audience was great and I had lots of fun. #RotaryInternational #Tibet

Taking a break from US politics, I'm looking at a recent satellite photo of a monastery in #Tibet I know well, Pewar Gonpa, in Derge. I see they've built a new temple (#1 in the pic), a giant dormitory, & other new structures on what used to be farmland. How did this happen? What about the farmers?

Yartsa gunbu has enriched rural Tibetan families beyond measure. But the problem is: over-dependence on resource extraction has led many people in Kham to neglect education and vocational skill development. #Tibet www.pamela-logan.com/compassion-m...
