Last night I overheard someone saying she has a book coming out in 2027, but all I got was it's her debut and her editor is Gabby, so . . . I have no idea what the book is! Also there's a romance in it, but not a romance book, I think.

Every time people start debating whether libraries are "necessary" for school/research, I think the answer is obviously, "It depends on if you're in fifth grade or college." The first you can do research only online. The second you probably can't.

Too many people have accepted cyberbullying as normal. Yesterday I heard a woman describing how her teen's ex was sending her misogynistic TikToks and posting misogynistic TikToks about her, and she kind of thought it was "mean" of the ex, but she was otherwise unconcerned.

I'm just going to start commenting "Because people have more than one kid" every time I see a judgy parenting take online.

"Why do schools start different times?" Because families have more than one kid.

"Why are her kids in too many activities?" They're not. She just has more than one kid.

From reading responses to this today, I am wondering if "special" is the same as "limited/rare". Or if it even should be. Personally, I want the book to look nice. I don't care if 100,000 ppl own the same edition.

Well, I've been reading prolifically lately than I have for most of the year, but I haven't liked any of the books I am reading, so I'm not sure this is a win. 😅

Sometimes I think readers take characterization too much at face value.

Is a character ACTUALLY smart/clever/badass/a good person, or do the other characters and the narrative voice just keep saying they are, and their actions never back the characterization up?

Also marketing comes into play.
