Virginia Sauvignon Blanc and Beauty and the Beat by Edan. Two projects trying to make crisp old-school rules work (and mostly succeeding!) in a new context and desperately hoping people notice.

Chianti and Blackout! by method man and redman. Like Chianti, both rappers can be considered the greatest of all time despite their occasional hacky bullshit. Plus both offer a mix of sharp barbs with smokey notes
December 1, 2025 at 8:20 PM
German Riesling and The Minstrel Show by Little Brother. Always going to be a fresh juicy sound, but it gives you a range of sweetness and acidity. Perfect on a hot summer day
December 1, 2025 at 8:04 PM
Hungarian Tokaj Aszu and return to the 36 chambers by Ol’ Dirty Bastard. This Hungarian wine gets its distinct flavor from “noble rot“ giving the two a similar unmistakable style
December 1, 2025 at 7:18 PM
Australian Shiraz and RTJ4 by Run the Jewels. How do you overcome your own success? Both got stale in overexposure and over merchandising but you can still find brilliance once you push aside the bullshit.
December 1, 2025 at 6:08 PM
Rioja Gran Reserva and Supreme Clientele by Ghostface Killah. Always fun and bouncy but with a weightiness in the aftertaste thanks to mixed flavorings (Grenache, Raekwon, etc). Great for a party or on its own.

New Zealand Pinot Noir and Shape Up by Leikeli47. Two elements that come out of nowhere and knock you on your feet with their power. Then once you recover you can feel how complex and fascinating it all is
December 1, 2025 at 5:21 PM
Biodynamic Oregon Pinot and Summertime 06 by Vince Staples. Weird, cloudy, hazy, inconsistent, but legit.
December 1, 2025 at 5:15 PM
Chateau Neuf de Pape and Criminal Minded by Boogie Down Productions. Old school perfection, with every note of spice and bitterness exactly where it’s supposed to be. Also steeped in archaic beefs
December 1, 2025 at 5:04 PM
Provence Rosé and Albert Einstein by Prodigy and the Alchemist. If anyone in hip hop is rosewave (ht @totalvibration.bsky.social) it’s the alchemist, and this album is where his atmospheric talents get the perfect balance with prodigy’s acidity
December 1, 2025 at 4:39 PM
Paraguayan Tannat and Piñata by Freddie Gibbs. You’re not gonna find the depth of bitter flare or anywhere else, especially not backed up by the fullness of the body alongside the fullness of madlibs beats
December 1, 2025 at 4:34 PM
Canadian Ice Wine and You Still Here Ho? by Flo Milli. What happens when you take out the fluff and just leave the sweetness and the alcohol. Fun and fruity even when it’s mean
December 1, 2025 at 4:27 PM
Right bank Bordeaux and We Can’t Be Stopped by The Geto Boys. Not as polished, but the beauty and the edge is still there, and no one would dispute its importance
December 1, 2025 at 4:21 PM
Left Bank Bordeaux and Ridin’ Dirty by UGK. Both top shelf quality, both rich and heavy thanks to their two core elements, both will leave you fucked up and wanting more.
December 1, 2025 at 4:06 PM
Sonoma County Chardonnay and Sir Lucious Leftfoot by Big Boi. Nothing more rich and buttery than these two, every moment is overwhelming in the unrelenting quality
December 1, 2025 at 3:59 PM
Spanish Madeira and Anger Management by Rico Nasty. So many things shouldn’t work here, with backwards fermenting processes and mixing emo with industrial rap madness. But it does, and it’s brilliant.
December 1, 2025 at 3:34 PM
Portuguese Tawny Port and the Low End Theory by Tribe Called Quest. Enjoy these together today and it will be perfect. Enjoy them together in 20 years and it will be even more so.
December 1, 2025 at 3:31 PM
Super Tuscan blend and Compton by Dr Dre. Both among the originals, both undeniably great, but also only great because of their collaborators and ability to bring in unexpected elements (and prone to feeling stale when they don’t)
December 1, 2025 at 3:29 PM
Alsace Loraine gewurztraminer and MM Food by MF DOOM. Two elements that can feel homeless in their style but also inarguably essential. Plus doom would make a meal out of saying that word
December 1, 2025 at 3:15 PM
Chilean Carmenere and Sometimes I might be an introvert by Little Simz. Both examples of taking something classic and moving it to its own planet to make it your own. Light, breezy, but also complex
December 1, 2025 at 3:12 PM
Loire Valley Puilly Fumé and The Plugs I Met by Benny the Butcher. Both sharp and sparse in a way that feels dangerous, every note drenched in menace
December 1, 2025 at 3:10 PM
Northern Rhône Blend & Stakes is High by De La Soul. The perfect blend of three elements in a style that can’t be replicated mainstream. When you want to really sit and think about what you’re enjoying
December 1, 2025 at 3:06 PM
I developed two passions in 2025 and I’m sorry but I’m going to celebrate here with an insufferable project: the definitive hip hop album wine pairings list

Napa Valley Cabernet & ATLiens by OutKast. Two projects that made permanent tectonic shifts in where people looked for top tier quality

X files: here’s a goofy episode about a guy who can see the future
Peter Boyle: ok then lemme give the greatest performance television has ever seen
