I must admit that I enjoy the apoplexy of US diplomats when NATO countries start looking at non-US weapons systems.

Full disclosure, masking is not common here, even in health settings. I do get some weird looks I guess, but I was in cadets, reserves and regular armed forces in the 70s-80s when short hair was a requirement but the style was long. I don't even notice strange reactions to my appearance anymore.

Before the vaccine was widely available I used to get seasonal flu at least once, sometimes more times, a year. Working with youth will do that. Since I've been eligible for the shot I haven't had seasonal flu once. I also mask in public now so no respiratory illness at all.

Meta's AI (I'm assuming bc I'm sure there likely weren't any people involved) threatened to cancel my account because my "actions appeared to be driven by an _automated system_".

Pot - kettle, etc.

Hands up anyone who is surprised a company in Hong Kong has a better grasp on the business environment in Vancouver than a company in Ontario.

Anyone?

I read the series as they came out. If you haven't, give yourself the best present you can for $2. Wonderfully imaginative, epic and engaging.

If you want to get really dorky, I hypothesize the feeding this signal through a FIR filter with the output biased to a large positive value would approximate the level of science denialism.

Absolutely. Growing up neurodivergent before that was even a thing, libraries were my refuge and librarians played a big part of keeping me as sane as I am.

Living in very rural British Columbia I had access to a mail order library, which was amazing.

I can't be the only one.

When I am Tyrant I will allocate sufficient resources that all libraries may remain open and staffed 24/7.

There are many reasons I will never be Tyrant, I don't think this is one of them.

Not a scientific observation bc I didn't know there would be a test 😀. My brain is telling me that the majority of measles stories we've seen lately* have had de-identified pictures of people with measles, not hypodermic needles.

* I eschew algorithmic article selection where possible.

Maybe it is bc I served in the Canadian Armed Forces and worked closely with the RCMP, but I've known a lot of ladies who were ripped and had well developed biceps. No one really wants hero bate on their flank when the shit goes down.
