Shoutout to the shadow fleet for stress-testing AIS by broadcasting the same MMSI from multiple ships. Glad to see they’re keeping the tradition alive: free, unscheduled pentests for the maritime world. Who needs QA when oil tankers do chaos engineering?

Today at 1109Z what looks like a mass spoof event of AIS-signal took place in central Baltic Sea.
In an area from approximately Bornholm to mid Gulf of Finland hundreds (thousands?) of new AIS-messages suddenly appeared. A large part of them military ships.

⚠️ Quite the unusual route for a tanker to take. Even more unusual, because this tanker is false flagged Aruba.
The routing is mostly though Danish national water (no Strait Rules should apply here). Pilot appears to be on board.
