Real estate disputes circa mid-15th century. Fairly civilized by modern standards. (from Wikipedia)

When they passed the campus "open carry" law in this state, bulletproof lecterns became a topic.

Great, more junk to fruitlessly search through for $20/mo.

"We think understanding these failure modes while we can still observe them clearly is essential for developing robust safety measures that will scale to more capable systems."

"Members of Congress have a legal right to conduct oversight of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facilities." The Dems have filed lawsuits - one on Aug 8. I see Durbin "pressing" the ICE Director. But overall results, nada. Ineffective, indifferent, useless in an emergency.

GB declaration was Oct. 2020. Here's what happened the next few months, and ongoing. (US deaths) So yeah, imagine if we'd listened to them on top of all that!

Opened the NY Times. Saw this. Closed it.

Can I borrow that for the ICE facility in Newark? Jets won't be needing it, I assure you.

(This page I came across was so revolting an example of nauseating bureaucratic horror I had to include it. )

Uh, is that the best we can do? "Deeply un-American." Like failing to stand for the National Anthem? Where the hell is my Fourth Amendment and who is going to do jack about it?
October 12, 2025 at 6:39 PM
Quick question: Whatever happened to the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution? Why isn't every elected official screaming that you cannot seize people, and break doors to their homes, because you don't like their looks or where they're living? It's very simple, black and white, clear as day.

Ok, calling in the thunder from the far North. You want Valhalla, you get the real Valhalla this time. Take it down just a notch there, Skarsgård, we're friends.

Child labor laws? School indoctrination? How about "Youth serves Trump and MAGA!" Ten years and up! Serve your country!

My Google AI assistant begs to differ.
August 23, 2025 at 6:58 PM
Yes, all the courts till now ruled against enforcing the law, which is clearly unconstitutional. Nevertheless we must support our MAGA/2025 buddies who pay our bills.

Somehow this is all the more poignant for being so "small". The drive of stubborn people to do the right thing, what their God or their conscience tells them is right, is justice, against the mob. And their faith that one day they will prevail.

A $200M dollar ballroom you say? Hmm, I think I have the answer to this question:

Maybe some warning yellow cross-hatching would help.

Thanks - this is interesting, and I learned what Vexillology is. Never knew what the hell the Maryland flag was from. Wikipedia explains: It's based on "the 17th-century heraldic banner of arms of Cecil, 2nd Baron Baltimore", founder of the colony. The quartered shield forms the pattern.

I think Chris Rufo will be the new Eric Sevareid.

I don't understand all the cultural references here but I can already see this wins as the contrarian reply of the day. Ah, I see Vincent Price is Witchfinder General - perfect!

I knew I'd seen that face before. Finally found it: Max Schreck in Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922). None of the modern versions were up to the task.

They like to diddle each other with neocon tropes, a little tiresome, but so what, I say: let them play. But then I click over to the "subscribe" page and see this psychotic beauty of a photo:
